Creamy Vodka Pasta in Pizza Bowl.
Zanti The Woodlands is the original of the two Zanti locations in Houston. They provide authentic Italian food to the Woodlands area with an atmosphere fitting for both a nice dinner out and with your family. Obviously since this website is dedicated to Vegetarian food we were not there to try their 120$ 40 oz Tomahawk steak and instead were there trying their creative Vodka Penne in a Pizza dough bowl and their simplistic, but perfected Margherita Pizza.
The Pizza
This Margherita Pizza was amazing. Zanti uses a Woodfired oven which is a must for any good pizza to get a rich crust with smokey spots. Zanti does not say their dough fermentation process, but this is by the far best pizza I have had(better than my previous favorites of Coastline, and Bollo) and this is mainly because of their crust. Zanti’s crust tasted salted to perfection and tangier than any pizzas I’ve had. This extra depth of flavor paired with the solid tomato sauce, not to heavy mozzarella and fragrant basil excels because the dough acts not as just a carrier, but a star flavor component in the pizza.
The Vodka Penne came in a pizza bowl with a rich and not to runny sauce. The homemade Penne was good there was nothing outstanding about it, but it was not overcooked. Vodka sauce can tend to be on the rich side, but this was creamy without feeling too rich to finish. The bottom of the pizza bowl is quite heavy and layered in vodka, but is a fun and tasty way to end the meal. Because there is both the pasta and bowl to eat this meal could be shared between two lighter eaters.
Overall eating at Zanti was well worth driving out to the Woodlands as the provided excellent quality food, service, and atmosphere without a exorbitant price.
